The windows in this Plano home are tall and narrow, set tight on either side of a fireplace with a detailed mantel and crown moulding. They are more architecture than glass. Anything installed there has to respect the trim, and a fabric shade would have looked soft in a room that is all about crisp lines.
Two-inch blinds were the right answer. The wider slat reads as a finished, built-in element, and the white matches the mantel and the moulding, so from across the room the blinds and the woodwork read as one piece. Tilted open, the slats let the room take its light from both sides of the fireplace. Tilted closed, they give a solid white panel that sits flush inside the frame.
We measured the windows for an inside mount so the blinds fit within the casing with the trim fully visible around them. Four blinds in total, made to the opening and installed in one visit in February 2026.
It is a small job by window count, but on windows like these a wrong treatment is very visible from anywhere in the room. Here the blinds look like they were part of the fireplace wall from the start.
