A living room with a two-story tile fireplace and tall windows on either side of it wants treatments that stay in the background. Anything too bright or too dark there becomes the thing you look at, and the fireplace loses. The master suite in the same McKinney home had a different job: a bedroom and a bath with a freestanding tub that both needed privacy without losing their light.

For the living room we used Midway in willow, a soft green-grey that sits between the wall color and the tile and lets the fireplace stay the focus. The shades run the full height of the tall windows and, as zebra shades, can be set anywhere from nearly clear to fully closed depending on where the afternoon sun is.

The master bedroom and bath received Arapaho in light grey. In the bedroom three windows in a row were fitted as a matched set so they read as one line. In the bath the two windows over the tub got the same fabric, which filters the light for privacy while keeping the room bright enough to use in daylight.

Eight windows in all, measured and installed in a single visit in February 2026. Two fabrics, chosen room by room, and neither one asks for attention it should not have.
