Arched windows are the ones most homeowners give up on. A standard shade stops at the spring line, where the curve begins, and leaves a half-moon of bare glass above it. That is fine until the afternoon sun comes through that exact spot. This Addison home had several of them, including one set high in a two-story stairwell where nothing off the shelf was going to fit.
We treated each arch as its own window. We measured the curve on site and built a fixed fan-shaped panel for the top, with a zebra shade below it that operates normally. From inside, the two pieces read as one treatment that follows the shape of the opening, with no bare half-moon left above the shade.
The fabric throughout is Las Colinas in mushroom, a soft grey-brown that works with the warm wall color in this house and does not draw attention to itself. As a zebra shade it gives the owner a range of light through the day: open for the view, half-closed to soften the sun, closed for privacy.
Twenty-three windows were measured and fitted in a single visit in January 2026. The arches that used to be the problem windows are now the ones that look the most finished.
