This Granbury home needed two treatments, and the reason showed on the first visit. The tall windows near the top of the main level stay in view from the moment you walk in the door. Anything installed up there becomes part of the architecture, so it has to be finished well enough to look intentional from across the room.
The rest of the house had a different problem. Afternoon sun came in low and hard onto the surfaces people use every day, and the glare lasted for hours. That is a comfort problem, and it wanted a different answer.
So we split the job. The high windows got shutters, built to each opening and finished to read as trim, with louvers that tilt to place the light where it is wanted. Everything else got Corinth in ivory, a shade fabric light enough to keep the rooms bright while taking the edge off the west sun.
Two products in one house, installed in the same visit. When windows in the same home are doing different jobs, that is usually the honest answer. The shutters stay put and finish the space, and the shades handle the hours when the light gets difficult. Neither one had to compromise for the other.
