This Frisco home already had drapery panels in the game room and an open plan that ran from the kitchen through a breakfast bay to the family room. The panels were staying; the owner did not want to replace them. What the house lacked was something that controlled the light during the day, because drapes are either open or closed and this family needed the range in between.
Zebra shades were the fit. They mount inside the window frame, so they sit behind the existing drapery without touching it, and their alternating bands give the in-between settings the drapes could not. Rolled to the open position the sheer bands line up and the window is nearly clear. Rolled a few inches, the solid bands overlap and the glare is gone while the room stays bright.
The fabric is Wylie, a mid-tone neutral chosen to sit comfortably against the warm walls in this house. It reads the same in the game room, where it pairs with the patterned drapes, and in the breakfast bay, where it is on its own across a row of windows.
Twenty-five shades in all, measured and installed in a single visit in June 2025. The drapery still frames the rooms the way it did before, and the shades now do the daily work of managing the sun.
